September 2008
Vol. 5 Issue 8
June 21st, MCC held a fundraising luncheon here at Garden Park Tower.
Here is the letter we received from Phil Schafran, Director of Resource
Development:
Dear Friends,
Thank you for your generous donation for the work of MCC, following
the luncheon at the Garden Park Tower on June 21. Your donation will go
toward MCC’s work in the Ukraine. The luncheon raised almost $24,000!
MCC is working through the churches in the Ukraine to bring needed supplies
such as hospital equipment, blankets, and canned meat. Our partnership
with the churches enables them to help people in their local communities.
The dedicated doctors, hospital staff, and patients are very encouraged
when they receive these supplies.
In the past two years, MCC has sent nine containers to the Ukraine.
Each container costs $8,000-$9,000 to ship but the value of the contents
are priceless in the Ukraine where many of these supplies are difficult
and expensive to obtain.
MCC feels a strong connection to the people of the Ukraine. This is
where we began our relief work more than 85 years ago. We are privileged
to continue to share the love of Christ with our dear sisters and brothers
in the Ukraine.
May God richly bless you for caring and giving to help people in the
Ukraine.
