NOVEMBER 2007
Vol. 4 Issue 10

Lest we Forget

In November much of the world pauses for a moment at the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month to remember all the brave people who have served their country in times of war.  Soon poppies will be blooming on the lapels of many who remember the service of their loved ones.  The poppy has been worn as a symbol of remembrance in Canada and internationally since 1921.   You can pick up a poppy in the Rose Room Coffee Shop and wear it with pride.

In Flanders Field.
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below
We are the dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If you break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow,
In Flanders fields.
