JUNE 2007
Vol. 4 Issue 6

On Thursday May 24th the Clearbrook Golden Age Society held their annual banquet to honour all of the people who volunteer for them.  It was a grand event with singing by Shane Wiebe, a jump rope display by The Abbotsford Skipping Sensations and special greetings from Ed Fast, Member of Parliament (In Absentia) and the City of Abbotsford represented by Mayor George Ferguson who always enjoys being with the people whom he serves.  Special recognition was given to all volunteers in attendance who had served 10 years and several being recognized for having volunteered for over 20 years; a rare accomplishment in today's society.   A special announcement was made by Hans Hofenk, Chairman of the Board, in recognition of Al Hiebert who has completed 26 years of volunteer service as well as serving on the Board of Directors for 20+ years in a significant leadership position; Al was also involved in a very significant way in the visioning and construction of the Garden Park Tower complex. In honor of Al's selfless devotion to the Society, the Board of Directors have named the board room in his honor, which will now be known as "THE ALLAN HIEBERT BOARD ROOM".

The Clearbrook Golden Age Society could not thrive as it does without the dedication of its many volunteers.  The work done by our volunteers is a great service to the community around us.  We would like to say a sincere Thank You to all who are volunteers for CGAS.  Your work is greatly appreciated!!

Why be a Volunteer

It’s not for the money, it’s not for fame
and it’s not for any personal gain.
It's for love of fellow man,
It’s just to lend a helping hand.
It’s just to give the tithe of self.
That’s something you can’t buy with wealth.
It’s not the medals worn with pride.
It's just for that feeling deep inside.
It’s that reward down in your heart.
It’s the feeling that you’ve been a part
Of helping others far and near,
That makes you a VOLUNTEER.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

We are always looking for new volunteers to help out in our Food Services department. Let us know if you are interested!
